Ontario Government appoints new Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks

Updated: Aug 27, 2019

Hon. Jeff Yurek, the MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London, has been announced as the successor to Hon. Rod Phillips as the new Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks. The appointment was made on June 20, 2019, and we are therefore encouraging you to address any correspondence regarding permits to take water to Mr. Yurek. As the current moratorium on new or expanded groundwater takings by water bottling companies expires in January 2020, now would be a great time to contact Mr. Yurek regarding this very important issue.

We remember and acknowledge that we are on traditional First Nations land. The Middlebrook well is situated on the Haldimand Tract, which is treaty land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. We express gratitude to the original stewards in this area, the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Attawandaron or Neutral peoples, and endeavour to honour this history by strengthening our relationship with land and water and continuing responsible stewardship.
