We are pleased to announce that the Province has gone ahead with its proposal to extend the current moratorium on water bottling permits through to April 1, 2021. While a temporary measure, we are hopeful this continued pause will allow the Ontario government to adequately consider proposed enhancements to Ontario's water taking program. In particular, we are encouraged by their stated intent to propose legislative amendments to the Ontario Water Resources Act that would implement the proposed requirement for water bottlers to obtain the support of the host municipality before applying for a new or increased permit to take groundwater. #WeAreNotDoneYet, but this may be a step in the right direction.
